Uncle Bruce

My Uncle sent me this email and asked me to post it. So here it is, along with my response to him.....

Craig just my 2 cents.Craig please post this on your blog site. I should not write this but can’t help myself anymore. Prep-in, Survival, Guns, Let our President fail, Please let our country fallapart.
1st off I am probably the worst writer in the world but will try and write this the best I can.
I understand each and every one of you and know where you are coming from but…
Have any of you ever seen civil unrest, countries without law and order, countries where life means nothing? Well I have, when someone gets mad at me and says go to hell my reply is I have been to hell and back and I survived. USMC Vietnam 1969-1970 Forward Observer Now retired disabled Marine but still a Marine.
Have any of you ever seen what an M16 round does when it goes in one side of a human head and comes out the other side. Have any of you had to look someone in the eye and pull the trigger, have any of you gone down after an artillery mission to ID enemy supplies and smelled the death and seen the body parts?
I think not of you all would be hoping and praying that this the greatest country in the world does good no matter who the president is. You would be praying every day that he gets our economy back on track.
The American dream is not dead we create our own problems and we also fix them. The American Dream lives on in us all and my kids and grand kids. Is our country perfect no never will be but believe me we have it better than most if you have ever been in third world countries you would know this. I have been to four of them and know how good we all have it even in the worst of times we are still blessed to live in the USA.
Everyone has the right to prepare and survive I know what we can do when we have to been there and done that. But to hope our country does not succeed and we have civil unrest that is SICK.
Do as you wish but hope for the best always! Just my 2 cents

Hi,
No, I've never seen civil unrest, except for the LA riots on TV and such. No, I've never seen what an M16 round does to a person, except for Hollywood's interpretation. I'd expect very few of us have ever shot anyone, nor seen the carnage you have seen. Most of us don't want to either. I know I don't....
As far as the economy getting back on track, I don't believe it will. I've learned a lot about it in the past year, and I've learned that it's a Ponzi scheme. It's completely dependent on exponential growth, and ever increasing consumption, which is physically impossible in a finite world...
The "American Dream", as it has been warped and twisted by profiteers and politicians, is dead. However, I truly believe that the REAL American Dream of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness is very much alive. Preppers, survivalists, we all want the same thing, and that is to pull our families through the turmoil that's about to befall us, so that we can rebuild our lives anew. So that we can rebuild America back into the great nation she once was. I know our country is not perfect, very far from it, but I do know that this is the best country in the world. I want America to succeed. But I feel that this path of socialism we are on is not the path to success. I feel it is the path to communism, the very thing you fought to protect us from. And I don't wish for civil unrest, I just recognize the fact that it is a very real possibility in this day and age.
I do let my emotions get away from me sometimes, because I am extremely frustrated by what is happening to this country. And yes, I go a bit too far.... But I think the march to socialism is sick. I think oppressive government is sick. I think excessive taxation is sick. And I believe our Forefathers would be sickened by what this country has become today. It has become the very thing they fought to free us from.....
I do hope for the best. I hope that people will come to their senses, and see that greed and laziness has destroyed this once great country. I hope that people will stand up for what's right, and peacefully take back what's rightfully theirs. I hope that we can fix our broken system. I hope that common sense comes back. I hope that once again, our Constitution will be honored, and followed.
But what I see now doesn't convince me this will happen with our current, corrupt government. I see that government stealing trillions of taxpayer's dollars and giving it away to wealthy bankers and corporations, while it gives the people the shaft. I see it instituting socialist programs and ideology while ignoring the will of the people. We are no longer represented by our government. Over 90% of the people opposed the bailout bill, yet our "representatives" ignored us and voted against our will. They voted to sellus out in favor of corporate interests....
The defecit is now more than the GDP of the ENTIRE world.... My kids, your kids, grandkids, their kids.... We'll all be paying for this for generations to come. This is completely unacceptable. I support none of what's been done, by Bush or Obama, or any of our supposed representatives.
I respect you, and I most definitely respect your service and sacrifice to this country. It is from that respect that I wish to make things right again. I will defend my country, from all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC. I will defend the Constitution. From where I, and all of my compatriots stand, our government is now a domestic enemy. We will do all that we can to defendAmerica, through peaceful means, or other means should it become necessary. We will protect our families, our property, our way of life. That's all we want. And when the government fails to do that, as it has for ages, then one must take it upon themselves. We have been taxed to death, buried in redtape, bullied around, and cast aside long enough. The quality of life inthis country has degraded for decades.
You were lucky, and had a relatively good life. That's all I want, but it has become nearly impossible today. We've reached a tipping point in America today, millions are without jobs. Millions are losing their homes. Millions more, like me, are right on the edge of homelessness. We've been brought to this point by greed, andg overnment indifference/incompetence. We are on the brink of the next Great Depression, and no amount of "stimulus" is going to stop that. The caliber of people today is not that of 1929. When the welfare checks stop, when police departments can no longer afford to pay officers..... There will be unrest. I am prepared to do what's necessary. And I hope for the best, which is to never have to fire a shot in self defense, or in revolution. But Iwill if I have to.....

Mayberry, I think you've got it. I like to believe that none of us actually want our country to unravel and descend into chaos. I, for one, have two children entering adulthood and I'd like for them to enjoy all the opportunities that this once-great country has to offer.

Unfortunately, I believe you got it right when you mentioned the term "tipping-point". We now have got ourselves in a position where, I fear, we cannot get ourselves out of. My children's future has already been mortgaged away by the fools in Washington. It's likely that their children and grandchildren will suffer as well. In one month, Obama has affirmed all the fears that I had regarding his election.

I know people will argue that these are extreme times, but has anyone seen this type of wholesale shift in the way our government conducts business as we have in the past 30 days? Executive orders, the reckless spending of potentially trillions of dollars, the resignation/withdrawal of appointments and now, the potential of the institution of the "fairness doctrine". Should that take place, who will speak out and make the excesses of government known? We are fast approaching a totalitarian state.

Between the recklessness of government and the enormity of a possible, dare I say likely, economic collapse we have the recipe for disaster. I don't necessarily want it to happen, but perhaps it's the only way that we can get back to where we should be.

God bless you uncle Bruce and Simper fi.
I come from a long line of military in my family and mostly Marine Corps.
Currently my youngest son is a staff Sgt. with 14 years in.
It truly saddens me to know the sacrifices we have made in the defence of freedom only to watch it all go to hell for some banker's profit.
Unlike Vietnam this will be a war that "WE" can not be ordered to loose!

Uncle Bruce is right: there's nothing romantic about seeing or smelling bullet torn bodies. There's nothing Hollywierd-esque about finding a limb here, another there, of listening to the constant buzz of the flies feeding. The smell is the worst. Like a slaughterhouse only you know it's people, not a dumb cow. Hearing the crying of humans in pain and the whimpering, the begging, the promises made... absolutely nothing pretty about a combat zone. Nothing pretty about war at all.
It's a vision the Dark Lord and his liberal criminal cohorts should be cast into, to know that they are so close to causing that, perhaps even to their own. They should be forced to see, to hear, to smell and feel what it is they are on the verge of casting this country into, bringing upon themselves.
Not only one Patriot has seen the horror- a mild word for the effects of combat- there are many who have seen and have no desire to return. Many of them have no desire to live as a servant to a Communist oppressor, either. Many have no desire to lay down and watch their loved ones die at the hands of Socialists. Many still believe in themselves, in the honor of their word, in what they have sworn to defend against all comers.
Many have asked themselves, "Why not me?" as the bullets tore apart the bodies around them, the fecal smell in their nostrils, the screams so loud in their ears above the sound of their own thoughts. Perhaps God has ordained another bloody encounter for them where we can redeem ourselves, answer the question we've so long asked ourselves. Perhaps God sees the need for determination, for experience, for Patriotism and Sacrifice.
God only knows.

Our once proud country represents nothing our forefathers gave ther blood sweat and tears for...let alone the brave men like Bruce who fought for something greater then themselves.

I am unwilling to see our nation go down the abyss like Rome. My children deserve better. What happened to honest capitalism - God fearing Morals and The American can do spirit? Be it at the ballot box or the end of an AR.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.....

My heart goes out to ALL the vets and their families that have suffered the ravages of war and the mind numbing horror that the results can bring.

When I was in the service, we processed some of the troops that were returning from Viet Nam, and sitting across from them and looking into their eyes...trying to see past the thousand yard stare that resided there, one could not help but pray to an end to it all.

I hope that civil protest don't turn violent...but I believe they are coming. I hope that my fellow preppers never have to defend themselves and loved ones...but I fear they will. I hope that somehow the actions of SOMEONE in the government can make a positive difference...but I really don't think they can.

I too, say "God Bless Uncle Bruce" and all the "Uncle Bruces" everywhere! And with hand over my heart, I say GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

First, Mayberry, I want to thank your uncle for his service. Although I was "1H" when I regestered for the draft in '73, I remember Nam, all the turmoil at home and how the vets were treated.

Second, I too want all those noble things restored that you do. But our "system" is too corrupt and broken to fix. As much as I fear for my grown kids and my grandkids should TSHTF, I believe it is what will be required to purge America of what and who are causing the problems. WTSHTF the human brain downshifts to the animal brain and protection of loved ones from individuals and institutions that pose a threat becomes paramount, more important than noble causes.

That was a great post. I hope I never see those horrors. After seeing something like that you can never 'unsee' it. I have an enormous amount of respect for those that have made that sacrifice for me, and for the great America they believe in. But the fight for our freedom will never cease. There will always be someone who wants to subjugate us to their will, whether it is a political threat from overseas or those who are supposed to represent The People eroding our freedoms and hoping we just won't notice. And many Americans have gotten 'fat and happy' enough that they DON'T notice. I for one want to make sure that our children enjoy the same freedoms I have. Our freedom is a gift given to us from previous generations who wanted a better world for their children. We cannot shirk that resposibility.

I'm not ready to give up on America, nut it seems that the mismanagement of our representatives over the last 100 years has lead inexorably to the financial crisis we face today.

Over the years all politicians from both parties have cooked the books publishing outright lies on inflation, unemployment, etc. to build political capital for the advancement of their parties agenda. I'm not giving up on America the idea, but the America of today's reality has to go.

I'm certainly in no hurry to see the collapse of our once-great country, but I fear we're running down that path. When ripping off a bandaid it's better to pull it off quick so the pain will pass and you can get on with your life. Let's just let the damn banks, and the car companies and all the other insolvent companies just go ahead and fail already so we can try to rebuild a better nation.

Knucklehead said...

First, as a vet, I thank you, Bruce, and all the other veterans for doing what you believed was right. And I apologize for what I am about to say.
We fought, bled, and died for all the wrong reasons for the past 100 years. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines on both sides of every war since 1915 sacrificed to the alter of international interests disguised as "just war."
Were this nation governed as designed, and, were we guided in this world by morals and individual liberty, there would have been none of the false flags and manipulated world events that drove our service. But that is done and nothing can be changed.
So now we must prepare for the worst and pray for the best - that is the reason we are here. We will not ever have to repay the trillions being borrowed because the ponzi scheme will collapse before we even make a dent in this horrendous debt.
None of us want to see the chaos and anarchy that we prepare to survive. But, just as when we wore the funny green suits, we must prepare for the worst.
And we hope that none of our own will be the ones we are picking up the pieces of if the worst happens.
As for our current pretender to the throne, I pray for his success ONLY after the Lord enters his heart. I have seen no evidence of that yet so, as with HRH George II in the past, I pray for his Salvation and leave his success or failure to the Lord's Plan.
Amazing - I got through this without going into a rant.

Mayberry,
Finally,a coherent rant I can agree with! From your past rant's,I'd thought you had gone over the edge of sanity!
No sane person want's the US to fail, unless they're into the montana militia or a cult or whatever. Although we're not a 3rd world country,at least yet, we still have a right to "civil uprising", it's called voting! We don't need to riot in the street's,burn car's,whatever.. No matter what president you care to blame this mess on,that's another long topic, you need to support ANY effort made, right, wrong, or indifferent. Doing nothing will accomplish nothing. We ARE at a "tipping point", we've been here a few time's,and made it thru without resorting to armed conflict, cept that civil war thing... IMHO, we need term limit's on any elected official, before they learn the trick's of washington, we need more public input, and more honesty from the talking head's on the radio. As alway's, hope for the best, prep for the worst. Just sit back, have a shot or 6,and wait for it.. if it come's,it will come.
Bless you uncle Bruce, you and your's are a blessing to our country. Thank you for your dedicated service to the country in another needless war. I believe if more people had seen and survived the thing's you've been thru, more people would be less inclined to lean to the "gun's and ammo" morality. Remember everyone,Bruce was one of the original survivalist's,as were every soldier who has seen combat.

Hey, Mayb, pass this nugget of wisdom on to yer uncle for me..."The prudent man forsees the danger ahead and makes preparations, while the fool goes blindly on and is punished (Proverbs 22:3)." Please believe me, I'm not calling yer uncle a fool...far from it! But our country, as a whole, is acting foolish while they fiddle away.

Semper Fi, although I have not seen the horrors in combat, I have served my country and have been in horrific situations, I’ve had to look down the sights at another human being I have held my friend in his last dying moments as he pleads for help, it is not fun nor romantic as Hollywood makes it out to be. It is not something that anyone should wish upon themselves or anyone else but, I will not remain silent as my country is stolen from me! I will not remain silent and let future generations handle the problems we have created! I will not remain silent as the country I once swore to protect is attacked from within! I wish for a peaceable return to an America I was raised to believe was my inheritance, but I will be prepared to do what is right and necessary when the time comes, if it does, so that my children and future generations don’t have to! It is what our forefathers fought for and so will I if necessary!

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

Mayberry,
This country is on the same course as California, unless the people stand up and get rid of the current Government systems. Less Government, less taxes, and no federal reserve, term limits for congress, and no pensions for one term congressman are just a few of the changes that are needed. They will never stand for it so our coarse is set. The economy will colapse in the near future and civil unrest/war will happen. Long range shooters, shoot and hide will be the norm. Protect your family from the zombie hoard. It is not the american dream that anyone wants. Good post Mayberry.
